This tour exposes you to open savannah – rainforest, dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward, a little wonder and an African park that boasts with high biodiversity ratings of any game park or reserve in Africa world over!! Almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 687 bird species make this a superb African safari territory, with the African elephant, a profusion of hippos, the elusive giant forest hog and Uganda kob all regularly sighted around the tourist village on the Mweya Peninsula which also boasts of a marvelous waterfront setting in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains. On lucky days this tours will have views of flocks of flamingo that reside in some of the salty crater lakes.
Day 1 – Start the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Depart Kampala in the morning after breakfast and go through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside. We shall have a stopover at the Equator en-route as well as at fresh vegetables and fruit markets. Proceed to the Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving at Jacana or Mweya Safari Lodge, King Fisher Lodge or Hippo Hill Camp, in the early evening with a game drive enroute (depending on where we stay) for dinner and overnight, 2 nights.
Day 2 – Early morning game drive and boat cruise
After an early Breakfast we’ll go for a morning game drive in the Park. Expect to see the famous Big Five; African Elephant, Buffalos, Lions, Bush bucks, Kobs, Giant forest hog, Hyenas and Waterbucks. In the after noon we’ll take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga channel and you will appreciate the schools of Hippos, Buffaloes, and Crocodiles close to the waterside as well as the rare Leopard prowling. There is a variety of bird life on this ride.
Day 3 – Transfer to Kampala
After breakfast and depending on your flight back home we have optional activities which entail proceeding to Kyambura Gorge for Chimp tracking or visit the bat cave or the blue lake. Drive back to Kampala arriving in the evening.
